Many organizations have backup jobs running for years without ever testing a restore. When ransomware, disk failure or disaster strikes, they discover the backup is incomplete, corrupted, or nobody knows how to use it.

The business question is not do we have backups? — it is how fast can we be back? Recovery time, recovery point and the ability to actually restore decide whether an incident is an inconvenience or a catastrophe.
